About MotoGP101

MotoGP101 exists to make Grand Prix motorcycle racing make sense to complete beginners — without the jargon, the gatekeeping, or the assumption that you already know your slicks from your slipstream.

What we do

MotoGP is one of the most thrilling sports on earth, but it can be baffling from the outside. Every guide here starts from zero: plain-English explanations, short paragraphs, and question-style headings that answer what you actually want to know. Where a technical term is unavoidable, we define it on the spot and link to a full explainer.

Who it's for

Newcomers. People who caught a race on TV and want to understand what they're watching, fans bringing friends into the sport, and anyone who has ever nodded along to "he's managing his tyre degradation" without quite knowing what that means. If you already know the paddock inside out, you're welcome too — but we're written for the person on their first lap.

Who writes it

MotoGP101 is produced by The MotoGP101 Team — a small editorial group that follows the championship closely and cares about getting the basics right. Every guide is written and reviewed against a single test: would this make sense to someone watching their first Grand Prix? Articles carry a "last updated" timestamp so you can see how current they are.

How we keep it accurate

We aim to be correct, current and clear, in British English throughout. Standings, calendars and results are kept up to date through the season, and our guides are revised as bikes, rules and riders change. If you spot something wrong or out of date, we want to know — see our accuracy & corrections page, or get in touch.

Independence

MotoGP101 is an independent educational site. It is not affiliated with MotoGP™ or Dorna Sports, the championship's commercial rights holder. The site carries clearly labelled advertising to fund the work; ads never influence what we write or how we explain it.
